Ian Carr-Harris

While in Toronto last week I stopped in at Susan Hobbs to see what's new. On display, an Ian Carr-Harris exhibition called Theoris: a paradox.

The exhibition link carries an excerpt from Carr-Harris's text. Below is an equation that comes later in the text, or out of frame, as it were.

An equation of sorts could be constructed that links together doubt and paradox through a series of terms that invite the consequence of both. The equation might look like this:

DOUBT - UNCERTAINTY - AMBIGUITY - AMBIVALENCE
RESISTANCE - CRITIQUE - TRANSGRESSION - COMEDY - PARADOX
- UNCERTAINTY - AMBIGUITY - COMEDY - AMBIVALENCES -
RESISTANCE - CRITIQUE - TRANSGRESSION - DOUBT
