Rick Masters is played by Willem Dafoe, an actor I had not seen, nor was aware of, prior to the film's release, though I had seen an earlier film he was in, Michael Cimino's Heaven's Gate (1980), in which he had a small (uncredited) part as a cockfighter named Willy. (While re-watching the film I noticed him -- looking on.)
