In his book
Pop (London: Thames and Hudson, 1974),
Simon Wilson writes:
"Allen Jones, like
David Hockney, gained a rapid success after the 1961 "
Young Contemporaries" exhibition. His earliest themes were, in rather odd contrast, sex on the one hand and buses, aeroplanes and parachutists on the other."
Below is a work by another Young Contemporary:
Serpent Stripe (1962) by Derek Boshier.
